Terms and Conditions for Miles Redemption Tickets
Miles Redemption Tickets (hereinafter referred to as "such tickets") refer to tickets purchased by PhoenixMiles members using a combination of cash and miles as mixed payment.
1. Sales regulations
i) The flights, booking classes, number of seats available, and mileage payment ratio applicable to such tickets may vary depending on the passenger's booking time, departure time, and the number of travelers. The specific details shall be subject to the real-time query results on this platform, and the sales price shall be subject to the final payment details.
ii) Miles can be used to offset the ticket price but are not applicable to offset upgrade fees, rescheduling fees, insurance, fuel surcharges, airport construction fees, or other charges, and are not redeemable for cash. Ticket prices are composed of two parts: One is the part paid in cash (all non-miles payments, such as bank cards, third-party payments, etc., are regarded as cash parts); the other is the part paid in miles. The price indicated on the ticket/itinerary is the amount paid in cash. A receipt cannot be issued for the portion of the ticket purchased with mileage.
iii) Eligible passengers: Mileage can only be used to purchase adult and child tickets. Infant tickets are not eligible.
iv) Applicable conditions: The passenger must have obtained the initial award redemption qualification and must have completed four flight segments within the past five years (with a non-zero mileage accrual rate).
v) Applicable channels: The ticket redeemed via Air China mobile platforms (Air China APP, Air China Alipay/WeChat applet, Air China mobile website) must be changed or refunded through the same channels.
vi) Eligible flights: Single-leg domestic journeys on CA-coded, Air China-operated flights (not including codeshare flights), excluding certain special flights. For details, refer to the online search results.
2.Ticket Change Rules
1. Voluntary Changes:
When making changes to such tickets, they shall be treated as cash-paid tickets, and the change rules corresponding to the booking subclass of the ticket shall apply. The calculation rules for service fee for the change shall be consistent with those for cash-paid tickets.
i) Voluntary change
1) The difference between the original ticket fare (total fare of the cash payment portion and the mileage payment portion) and the fare of the changed ticket shall be collected;
2) The service fee for changes shall be calculated based on the original ticket price;
3) Further changes made after the initial change should be handled according to the new ticketing rules.
ii) Involuntary changes due to irregular flights
Changes to tickets affected by irregular flights shall be handled in accordance with Air China's standards for involuntary handling.
iii) Ticket changes for duplicate purchases / injured/ill passengers
The handling principles shall follow Air China's regulations on ticket changes for duplicate purchases / injured/ill passengers. One change of flight date (change of itinerary is not permitted) may be processed, with the service fee waived. However, the difference in booking subclass and seasonal pricing shall apply, meaning the difference between the original ticket price (total price of the cash payment portion and the mileage payment portion) and the price of the changed ticket shall be collected. Requests for any additional changes are subject to the conditions of use for the specific ticket.
3. Ticket Refund Rules
When refunding such tickets, they shall be treated as cash-paid tickets, and the refund rules corresponding to the booking subclass of the ticket shall apply. The calculation rules for refund service fees shall be consistent with those for cash-paid tickets.
i) Voluntary ticket refunds
1) When tickets are not re-issued but just refunded, the refund service fee is calculated based on the original ticket price (the total of the part paid in cash plus the part paid in miles). The corresponding fees shall be deducted from the portion paid in cash of the original ticket price, and the remaining portion paid in case (cash paid – refund service fee ≥ 0) shall be refunded along with the miles. The miles shall be refunded according to their original validity period, and no compensation shall be provided for any expired miles.
2) If you have already completed your first flight and would like to cancel an unused flight segment, a refund service fee will be charged based on the original ticket price. If the unused flight segment was changed prior to cancellation, any difference between the original ticket price and the new ticket price will be refunded in full, but service fee for changes will not be refunded. The corresponding fees shall be deducted from the portion paid in case of the price. The remaining cash paid shall be refunded along with the miles. The miles shall be refunded according to their original validity period, and no compensation shall be provided for any expired miles.
3) If, at the time of refund, the cash portion actually paid for the price is insufficient to cover the refund-related fees (i.e., cash paid – refund fees < 0), only taxes and fees will be refunded, and the miles will not be refunded.
4) The cash paid shall be refunded to the bank account used for payment, and the miles shall be refunded to the PhoenixMiles member account used for payment. Refunds to a different account are not supported.
ii) Involuntary refunds due to irregular flights
Refunds for tickets affected by irregular flights shall be handled in accordance with Air China's standards for involuntary handling. If any miles are to be refunded, the refunded miles will be valid for 36 months.
3. Refund for duplicate ticket purchase
The cash paid is exempt from refund service fees, and the mileage shall be refunded according to its original validity period. No compensation shall be provided for any expired miles.
4. Refunds for tickets of injured/ill passengers
Refunds for tickets of injured/ill passengers shall be handled in accordance with the relevant Air China standards. If any miles are to be refunded, the refunded miles will be valid for 36 months.
