On-board Wheelchair Service

I. Service Description

We provide a free on-board wheelchair service for passengers who are fit for travel but unable to move independently on some Air China operated flights to help passengers with getting into and out of seats, moving to and from the lavatory, and so on. Passengers must request the stretcher service for their journey if they are unable to sit in a standard aircraft seat for any reason (e.g. cannot bend knee/hip joints due to arthritis) or if they are unable to sit in an upright position during takeoff and landing and no satisfactory alternative is available. Once we agree to the request and make the relevant arrangements, they can travel.

II. Scope of application

Applicable to the flights operated by Air China with Air China flight numbers departing or arriving from Beijing Capital International Airport, Beijing Daxing International Airport, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Tianjin, Chongqing, Shanghai, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Dalian, Hohhot, Urumqi, Guiyang, Lhasa, and Wenzhou. The wheelchair for cabin service is currently not available for connecting flights.

III. Application Deadline

Not later than 16:00 on the day before the departure airport's flight departure time (inclusive).

IV. Special Reminders

If you are applying for on-board wheelchair service due to injury or illness, you should consult a doctor before planning your trip to confirm whether you are fit for travel for the safety and health of yourself, other passengers and crew members.

To reduce adverse effects of flying at high altitudes, such as embolism, obstruction and suffocation, on the health of injured or ill passengers, and to comply with the aviation requirements for travel safety, some injured or ill passengers are required to meet the conditions of carriage specified by us before we let you travel. For details please see General conditions for passenger baggage transportation.

Even if you provide relevant certificates or meet our conditions of carriage, we reserve the right to decide whether to let you travel at check-in or boarding based on your physical condition and the actual flight operation.

V. Check-in Reminder

Passengers that have requested on-board wheelchair service are required to arrive at the check-in counter 120 minutes before the flight's scheduled departure.

VI. Service Restrictions

To ensure your safety and comfort and that of any accompanying personnel/baggage, your wheelchair is reserved for use by you alone. Please do not carry infants/children or any carry-on baggage that would exceed the baggage restrictions of your fare class when using the wheelchair. When transporting a passenger via wheelchair, accompanying personnel cannot supervise infants/children or carry baggage. Thank you for your understanding. Any baggage that exceeds the restrictions for unchecked baggage in your fare class must be checked in.

VII. Changes and Cancellation of Service

If you need to change your flight or service booking, you should cancel the previous service booking before making another.
